IAL
IAL classes at The Udine International School are reserved for students who have no previous knowledge of the Italian language or whose degree of fluency in Italian is not sufficient to access the Italian Studies curriculum. Personalized courses are prepared for students in these subjects. The lessons take place during school time and students will be assigned a program created in accordance with their specific needs.
The purpose of the Italian as a Second Language Program is to provide individual help for students so that in time they can participate more fully in their regular classes. Areas worked on are: pronunciation, grammar, sentence structure, vocabulary, reading comprehension, and conversation. Meeting with the IAL teacher also provides an opportunity for individual guidance in helping the IAL student adapt to an Italian-speaking country.
During the first year of attendance, the IAL course will be at the school’s expense. From the second year on, should a need to continue with IAL be identified, this will be agreed with the student’s family and will be at parents’ expense.
